So . . .
We're moving to South Korea. Some of you know that, some of you don't. If this seems to you like a rash change of direction in our lives, I assure you there was a lot of thought and consideration that went into our decision. It's a rather long explanation though, and I'm not ready to divulge all the details for you just yet. It involves plans to move to England, endless dealings with the British High Commission and the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal in the U.K., difficult decisions, a change of heart, mountains of paperwork, hours of telephone calls and a lot of waiting.
Suffice to say, we believe this is the best situation for us to be in at this point in our lives. Six Happy Feet will be the manuscript of our experiences. Sure, it's self-absorbed, but that's what blogs are supposed to be. I'm following the crowd.
Carmen will be continuing with our first blog, Bun is in the Oven, at a new address. You can now find it here.
We'll be living in Daegu (pronounced Taegu), a city of about 2.5 million people located in the Southeast of South Korea. It's the fourth largest city in the country and is about two hours from Seoul (site of Ben Johnson's shameful 1988 Olympic drug scandal) by train. Carmen will be teaching grades 4-6 at a public elementary school, while I do my best to take care of Cate during the day. Her contract begins next week, and we'll be leaving for Seoul Saturday night. More information to come . . .
Please keep in touch by commenting or by sending us an email. Hope you're all doing well.
